just got the new OXM and it has an articule in it about Half-Life 2 and it said it was coming to xbox and is due out summer 2005. but it's not going to half any multiplayer, but all of the 4 gig of the PC single player game is there.

That's kinda dissapointing. Half Life 2's a terrific game but I can't imagine it transferring well over to the Xbox. The graphics will probably take a huge hit, and I can't imagine the loading times improving at all. I was hoping this would be an Xbox 2 launch title, optimized for the system with better load times and online versions of both the standard multiplayer and Counter Strike Source. I'm just going to hope that Valve changes their minds.
I agree. I'd much rather wait, even if it was another year, for a full-blown, no-corners-cut version of the game. Perhaps they feel they need to cash in on it now, for whatever reason.Originally Posted by Captain Haddock"
Is it me, or do game makers seem to cut corners with every game ever made. Can you name one that wasnt (on the current systems)? We all know Fable, Halo 2, Chaos Theory all had corners cut. =)Originally Posted by LaneMeyer"
From what the article says the graphics will remain pretty much the same (I dont know how but Doom 3 does look pretty sweet on XBox). They said the load times would remain the same which I thought was crappy but they said they did that so they could cram as much graphical detail in each area as possible. I dont think i will pick this up as I have it for the PC already. I am with you in wishing they would put it (or a version of it) on xbox 2.Originally Posted by Captain Haddock"
Just another example of why the Xbox is being retired early. If they can pull off games like Splinter Cell CT, Doom 3 and now Half Life 2 on the Xbox then the Xbox 360 better have some amazing never before seen graphics or it's going to disappoint for the simple fact everyone will scream why did I have to buy a new console when my xbox can already do this??
I have to ask but what corners were cut, the singleplayer is the best of the series, co-op has not got old either and versus multiplayer, although frustrating at times has nothing wrong with it as far as I can tell(not counting user created issues ie, spawn camping, playing nothing but aquarius)Originally Posted by Dr Superb"
sorry for the hijack
but back on subject I have not played HL2 but i loved the first Half-life it was actually the first game that introduced me to online gaming, I would wait untill xbox 2 for it because the multilaye of HL is fun
Why are there 6 old maps and 5 new maps in MP? Why was Museam changed around, and none of the other old maps now? Because they put that in the demo to make it look like they were doing something different with the old maps. Corners were cut. =)Originally Posted by Sokaar"
Well, technically... the xbox version of Chaos Theory cut corners: The texture resolution is a lot lower than the PC version. But then again, the PC doesn't have headset communicators that effectively separates game noise from teammate communication.
