so its an invite only game for right now right?
Wiki has this on itDota 2 is an upcoming action real-time strategy fantasy strategy video game being developed by Valve Corporation and the stand-alone sequel to the popular Defense of the Ancients mod for Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and The Frozen Throne. Formally announced on October 13, 2010 via the website of magazine Game Informer,[2] the game is currently undergoing a closed beta phase and is scheduled for a full release in 2012.[3] Dota 2 will utilize a free-to-play business model, with a social network based around the game and its community
gotcha... well I'll keep an eye out to see if I get invited to the game
Does anyone have any experience with these types of games and can give some pointers on what a good opening strategy is? Boris and I tried to play a bit over the weekend and just found ourselves constantly getting destroyed in bot matches. It always seemed like the opposing heroes could get the jump on us and then wipe us out everytime. Is it better to just hang back and kill minions to get gold/XP until you can buy better equipment? And then, when do you know it's safe to push forward and attack an enemy Hero?
I enjoy the game, but I just can't seem to grasp what the strategy is at the moment
That is my understanding of this style of MOBA. You want to each team member to hold a lame at the middle of the map picking off anyone who comes across. Once you level up a little then you push forward a little at a time. But I've not played enough to fully grasp all the details of it.
If you really want to get into it the Trinity Force Podcast is suppose to be really good. One of the guys from Splitkick.com started it up a while back.
