(Book) Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter by Tom Bissell

I'm not going to talk about $10 (Kindle)Extra Lives because better people than I have already said it. I'm just going to say that every "Gamer" needs to read this book.

(Edit) Listen to the author's interview now.

I wonder what video game type people think of this book. All those reviews are from non-gaming sources.

I haven't sean it reviewed on any of the gaming sites I read; I have never sean a book reviewed on those sites. In some ways I put more value in the above reviews because they are not video game enthusiasts. A gamer reviewing a gaming book will tend to agree/like the book. A mainstream reviewer liking a gaming book says something.

Any ways, you can download an interview from one of my favorite gaming podcasts on itunes under "The Brainy Gamer Podcast" episode 29. Or here directly.

I consider myself a video game type person, and I think it is a must read. Hell, you can even get an audible version hereor MP3 version here and listen to it during your commute. ;-)
