    Premium Themes

At 250 MS points a pop, they are not cheap. Major Nelson showed screenshots of a few of them, but the Marketplace is sorely missing a preview feature. I will take a $3 gamble now and again, however many Live users will bristle at the thought of dropping down points for these premium themes sight unseen.

So far only the Fable 2 Albion theme looks really eye catching, with the Halo Wars one coming in a close second.

Has anyone bitten yet? What are your thoughts?

Boy was I wrong in thinking that those super smart, way more bigger brained people than me at M$ would implement a preview in the Market Place. Obviously they are only interested in taking your money (nothing has a refund in there). It is just bad business selling to someone sight unseen with no chance of a refund. You can only pull this shitty stunt online, at least on Ebay they have a buyer feedback for bad sales. No such feature for Live Marketplace, not even user ratings.[n]

If I can't see a preview of all the details in full, then I will just keep wasting my points on RB2 DLC.[:P] But seriously, on these themes it is just a big background picture and some stuff behind your friends (and we all know how useful that list is), or is there more to these things than I am aware of.

You can find them online with a quick google search. I agree, they should be previewable in the marketplace, but since they aren't/until they are, it's better than nothing.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=342627 This thread on Neogaf has pictures of each premium. Just scroll down and view the other pages to see all off them. Halo Wars and Rock band are decent themes.

Yep, without an easy way to preview through the marketplace these go the same way as RB DLC and PS3 arcade games - that is it is very, very unlikely that I'll buy it sight unseen unless it's just getting absolutely rave reviews.

I don't care enough about the themes to go google it on my computer, so not implementing an easy preview feature is their loss, and money saved for me.

Themes and gamerpics are a waste of money, always have been, always will be. I don't see the point in paying for any of that stuff. There's enough free selections to change it up if that's what you want.

IMO, all this stuff should be given away, particularly with game purchases. If I just spent $60+ on the game, throw in the gamerpics and theme for free, along with some avatar clothing.

Not to pick you specifically but these companies are in business to extract as much money as they think is possible from consumers, themes and avatar clothing are a good way to do that.

I bought the Rock Band 2 theme cause I'm a dork for Rock Band and I've spent $3 on far dumber things.

I'm not going to lie, I have bitten on these themes. For the price of a beer at the bar I got the fable II theme. I also have the GOW 2 theme from launch night at gamestop (it was free). Didn't realize that was a premium theme. It's neat, so I'm one of these suckers that is stimulating the economy by buying this stuff. LOL

It does last longer then that beer at the bar. []

I agree that they're definitely going to make every effort to get us to spend more. I'm sure we can look forward to them trying to sell us outfits and extras for our AVs. EA already does that for their online game site and I know for a fact that they make a killing!

I also got the RB2 Theme, bcuz I'm obssessed with the game. Actually I really like it and think it looks pretty cool. Now that gas prices have declined, I figure I can afford it lol.Three dollarsis a small drop considering what you can spend on a Latte at Starbucks. I can make my own coffee and would rather have the cool background on my screen. Now all my friends look like the Rockstars I think they are! [Y]
