    PSP or a X360

Anyone here has gotten the new PSP? I'm debating between a X360 and a PSP.

I'd like to get a X360 to playGears 2 and Halo 3 with buddies like Chef, Kenshiro, AJ, etc, etc in general with all the other great folks here, but all those RRoD reports of active and reliable AGE members kind of make me hesitate, my marriage wouldn't take a new broken X360. I love you Chefand look forward to game again with you and othersbut damn X360 doesn't help much [U]

It's a long time since I onwed a handheld, screens were too dark and they demanded good illumination to see anythingand since here is kind of dark most of the year so I gave up but now it seems like the new PSP delivers good image both out- and indoors and owning a PS3 adds even more value to a PSP IMO.

So, is the new PSP 3000 really much better compared to the "old" one? I've heard that there're no many games for the PSP but as a new oners I guess there're enough great games to get started with...I've already an eye on MGS portable Ops, Metal Gear Acid, GoW, Resistance:Retribution, the Killzone game, etc

What about accessories? do you need to buy a lot of stuff besides the PSP? batteries, mic, cables, mem cards, etc...I'd like to buy something that doesn't demand to get a lot of extra accessories in order toget the real thing.

If the PSP would turn as expensive as a X360 I might get a X360 instead

Mazz, do any of your stores offer PRPs (product replacement plans)? I wouldn't purchase an Xbox without one myself. Also, if you still have your old hard drive you can buy an arcade pretty cheap.

I'm biased though because I want to see you in Gears. []

I like my PSP (not a 3000 tho) but I don't use it too often. If I had a train ride or something to work I would definitely use it more. The little screen is beautiful.

No PSP so I can't comment on that but it seems to come down if you really want a mobile gaming device or another console.

I'd also mention that the rate of deaths of 360's has seemed to drop dramatically from what I can tell. Ever since they started 'really' fixing them last year I haven't heard of too many dead consoles. I just picked up a new 60 gig 360 that uses less power (smaller power supply and different chips) than my two others and I've been quite pleased, it kicks off way less heat and is significantly quieter.

Lets put it this way mazz. I love sony stuff. I love my PS3. I bought a PSP and sold it in a few months. Once I played the few games I was interested in there was nothing else. I ended up just using it as a MP3 player.

I would go with the 360.

Well I am going to start by telling you about option C which wasn't even on the list, and tell you to go for a Nintendo DS. I haven't had a handheld that I was even remotely satisfied with compared to this one. Between the Phoenix Wright games, Trauma Center, the Ouendan/EBA series, NinjaTown (which is just really a disgustingly cute version of Desktop Tower Defense), Teh Pokemonz, Brain Age, Flash Focus, et al... Meteos was a blast, New Mario Bros, and a ton of other games I can't think of right now, added with the extra niceness of the lower pricing of DS titles compared to PSP titles, and Waaay the hell lower than the price of 360 titles, I would highly reccommend it. Well, there's my 2 cents and my $1.00 commission check for apparently being a Nintendo Rep.

As for your actual choices, you know the pros and cons of the 360 all too well. (And are perhaps all to eager to share them in your posts [:P] ) But I would think it really comes down to where and when you want to be gaming (aka Portability) and the desire to play online with a larger crowd of AGE-ers. I wish you luck in your choice.

P.S. Hope the length of this post was suffecient for a Mazz post. [Y]

This really comes down to a choice of where you want to play. I have a PSP albeit not the new one. I travel quite a bit and spend long amounts of time on airplanes. So for me a portable is a no brainer. But if you are looking to get to play with more AGEers then the 360 is the way to go ( I mean getting to TK Chef or Tbad would far out way any pros to the other system [:P] ).

Other things you will want to look at picking up if you get a PSP:

A good case to protect it.

Case for the games to protect them, unless you plan on carrying the boxes they come in (which are not travel friendly unless you only take 1 or 2).

A headset/mic if you plan on playing games online.

Things I have for the plane:

A small stand for the PSP to sit at a good viewing angle

extra battery life. be it a second battery or an external source (which is what I use as it will power other stuff)

I really like my PSP but I only play it on the plane anymore. As Pesh pointed out the DS has some great games out for it, and may be the better choice for games.

the 3000 has a mic built in if you don't want a mic though. if I had a headset I may have kept mine just for skype.

i love my 360, but i know it will keel over one day...so be it. i picked up a psp a few months back, and found that i couldn't find a single game that i really enjoyed. my hands are big, and using that little analog stick really made my hand hurt. also, it was worthless in any remotely bright light (though i know you're talking about a new psp). there is no denying that the screen is spectacular, i mean really, it's great. however, being that the games were awful, imo, i ended up like cdub, using it as a media player. so, i too sold mine and got an ipod, which is about a hundred times easier to carry around. i'm much happier all the way around.

if sony ever decides to actually make use of the psp, rather than treating it like the drunken brother in law that only deserves leftovers, and give it some real games, or import the gps, or import the camera, then i'd gladly buy one again. however, other than that screen, i've been nothing but disappointed with it. i should point out, that i only really like shooters, and the single analog stick makes those tough, my opinion might be different if i was into rpgs. also, i don't have to commute, or spend large amounts of time on planes, or anything like that, which also might change my opinion. but honestly, i'd rather read a book, or listen to music than play any of the psp games that i tried.
    mmmmm..... home brewed beer!

The RPG factor doesn't change much for me. I love RPG's and got a few for the PSP. Just couldn't get into it as much. A story is not as immersive to me whan its so small and quiet.

I don't know much about the PSP, but I know the DS has a nice range of titles that fit the bill for a ten minute break or an hour long play time.
