Saw this movie yesterday with the family and I give it 2 thumbs up. It's like watching a National Geographic special on the big screen. Great and informative movie on the emperor penquin's trials and tribulations for procreating the species.

Yeah, we watched this the other night. It really is like watching a great Discovery channel show. The narration by Morgan Freeman is superb and the photography is simply breathtaking. The film definitely takes you through all of the ups and downs of their quest to procreate.Originally Posted by Yooper"
While some may think watching a movie about penguins hookin up and having babies might be as much fun as watching paint dry, its really worth a watch if its playing anywhere near you.
Me and BlueS saw this last week. It was very good. Like you both said it was like watching the DC which I also watch from time to time.
Spoiler below, I guess....
One of the best and saddest part is the upclose shot of the egg freezing. Poor penguin.
My sister freaked out about that part. She was pissed that the film crew just let it happen. She's one of these animal rescue activists though. It took some time to explain that while the camera was up close, its not like the cameraman was right there. They were a good distance away using telephoto lenses as to not interfere.Originally Posted by Porphyria Plan"
Yeah, lets take this completely natural occurrence and in our arrogance intervene. Ask your sis when the baby starves because the farther is too dumb to find his way back if she'll move there and raise them? :smt003Originally Posted by cblalock"
Not ragging on her or serious just thought I'd poke fun at that train of thought. It is pretty sad and makes you want to do something or wish something was done.
Dude I take no offense. She deserves some ragging. The woman has 2 dogs, 9 rabbits (freely roaming the house but they're litter box trained), a cat, a fish pond, an 8 year old and a husband all in the same house. Well, the fish pond is outside.Originally Posted by Porphyria Plan"

Oh boy.
I got choked up when the daddy penquin said goodbye to the offspring after the 2nd transfer and when the baby penquin froze and the mother was torn and distraught.
I want to see this movie so bad. Now that you guys gave it such a good review maybe I can talk Hoggle into seeing it. I love penguins and I collect anything that has to do with penguins, including books, paintings, ceramic figures, and a bunch of other useless but cute crap. If it has a penguin on it I'll buy it. I actually wanted to study penguins in college and become a Penguin Doctor (don't ask) but you have to study all types of birds when you major in Ornithology and frankly other birds bore the crap out of me. I am trying to convince Hoggle we need a pet Penguin but I don't think he's buying it. :smt003
This movie was awesome! I would see it again in a heart beat.
