• Sony plans to offer full Movie/TV Downloads as early as this summer.

  Looks like even more changes to the PSN at E3 this summer: Most notable in the near-term however, is word from Kazuo Hirai , chieftain of Sony Computer Entertainment, that Sony will make a movie download service available to US PlayStation 3 owners this summer -- Japan and Europe at later dates with details coming "next month," presumably... • Phil Harrison Resigning From Sony - joining Atari?

  Huge, huge loss for Sony. IMO, he is one of the few Sony exec. that had foresight on where the market was/is moving. My guess is that he resigned prior to GDC, but the move was only made public after GDC ended. • 40GB Playstation 3 dated - misplaces lots of features - continues to mislead gaming community

  When I first read the news that a $399.99 40GB PS3 was coming out, my first reaction was, "good for Sony". Then, as I kept reading, I found that this was not a good thing at all. • PS3 price cut only temporary? Seems so ...

  According to the SCEE president, the price cut was only for the 60gig models, which they expect will be completely bought up by the end of July. So, what happens after that? • Sony's New PSP is Thinner and Lighter

  Engadget has some nice pictures of Sony's new PSP. It looks only a little thinner in the photos, but then the DS Lite is only a little thinner and that made a big difference. • Sony Caught Using PGR3 Again?

  Earlier this year Sony was caught using a screenshot of Microsoft's Project Gotham Racing 3 to promote Gran Turismo 4. When the accident was pointed out, Sony quickly removed the shot and replaced it with a proper still of GT4. But it looks like Sony may not have learned from the mistake, as Team Xbox has found the company apparently using PGR3... • Online gaming - Xbox Live vs Playstation Network - Something to consider

  Recently, I have noticed that Sony and some of it's developers are starting to shut down online gameplay on some of their Playstation 2 games (Amplitude and Metal Gear Solid 3). Since Sony does not have a unified online structure like Xbox Live, the online game play for Playstation Network games only lasts as long as the developers see the need to support it. Unlike Sony's online service, Xbox Live is set up in a way that allows you to always be able to play your games online, no matter how old they are. The servers that allow you to connect with friends and play online are managed by Microsoft; and will always be available as long as the Xbox Live service is up and running. If you are a die hard online gamer, or someone that likes to collect games, this is definitely something to consider. I have a feeling many gamers do not realize this... • Europe loses hardware backwards compatibility for Playstation 3 - Is the US next?
