AGE

[AGE Feature/AGE 101]: AGE TV (public beta)

I would like to announce a new feature called AGE TV: a single place for all of the AGE video producers to publish their content.

Seeing more and more videos being posted all over the forums prompted me to create a single forum (or "channel") where all of the video could be posted and, subsequently, ripped apart and critiqued.  Currently, I have to explicitly add you to be able to post new videos but everyone should be able to post a reply/comment.

As this is in "beta" look forward to more features added to or related to AGE TV soon!

Where can I find the videos?

The videos are posted in a special forum called AGE TV under the "Gaming Events" forum group. Eventually, there will be links to it from the main page but initially you can access it via the link above or through the Forums page.

The good news is that all of the posts in the AGE TV channel (forum) will appear is the "not read" and "active topics" pages so you won't have to go looking for them.  Also, there is a RSS feed for AGE TV that you can subscribe to for instant updates.

What do I need to watch the videos?

For the most part, you just need to make sure you have the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player.  You browser should prompt you for the latest version, otherwise you can download it here.

What if I have a problem with the content of the a video?

If you have an issue with a specific video then please contact the member that created that video.  If that person does not respond to your request then contact and AGE admin or moderator and we'll help you where we can.

What if I have any other questions, suggestions or feedback?

Please post them in the Official AGE TV Feedback Thread.

For AGE TV publishers:

What if I want to publish videos?

If you like to create game videos (not just limited to game night captures) please add a post to the Requests thread in the forum.  The more the merrier!

Where can I host my videos?

Most of the AGErs host there videos at videogames411.com (tbad's site) or GameVee.com.  If the video is original enough consider posting it at Vimeo.com for the highest quality.

What editing tools do you recommend?

For Windows users you can use the free Windows Movie Maker that can be downloaded/installed from Microsoft.  A very easy-to-use tool is Pinnacle Studio and Adobe Premiere can be used for more advanced editing.

Mac users can use iMovie or Adobe Premiere.

There are some free tools out there (VirtualDub, Wax) but none seem to compare with inexpensive tools such as Pinnacle Studio.

(PM me suggestions and I'll post them)

How do I embed the videos?

The forum software we use works only with an <embed /> tag.  If your video hosting provider supports it out of the box than use it.  Otherwise, you can generally convert an <object /> tag to an <embed /> tag.  Check out this post for an example for GameVee.com.

Once you have your embed tag, you need to use the "html" view of your post to add in your tag.  Ask around and someone will help you out!
