Update: With our ever expanding population here at AGE, we are always looking for better ways to adjust and evolve to sustain a fun gaming atmosphere. Recently it was brought to my attention that we have a lot of new members who may not be familiar with the game night structure. If you have questions about how Game Nights work please feel free to ask a Mod or post in the Game Night forum with your questions.
We have a lot of new people that have joined the site recently and they are not aware of many of the unwritten rules that we have come accustomed to. To make sure everyone is on the same page, new members and old, we have put together a Game Nights Guideline. This is basically a set of rules and tips for our hosts and attendees. Hopefully having this Guideline written out for all to see will help to maintain the fun atmosphere that we all enjoy during our Game Nights. Please take some time to read them over. Thanks!
General Tips
1) Please do not create a new room unless all the Game Night Host rooms are full (or never started).
Tips for Hosts
1) Make sure to not join any games in progress (unless it is a
person from the official Host list). Instead, create your own game,
using all private slots.
2) Invite players from AGE with priority given to those signed up in the Game
Night thread. Only invite AGE members who did not sign up for the Game Night after those who signed up are in a room.
3) Please be
proactive in "policing" your room - both in responding to poor behavior
or sportsmanship and in mixing up groups if skill gets too
one-sided. Actively solicit input from your players in regarding
keeping or changing map/mode selections.
4) Please do not create rooms that are open to the general public. These people do not know our code of conduct.
5) Only invite Non-AGE gamers to fill up a room after you
have checked with the AGE members in your room and if you are willing
to vouch for their behavior. If the game allows, use bots to fill the
empty spots until others AGE Members arrive.
6) Add all hosts to your friends list so you can communicate between each other to determine if rooms are full.
7)
Change your Live status to "Away" when your room is full. This will
alert people that your room is full. (can still see msg notifications).
8) If the game Night you are hosting has a Friends of Friends list please keep that FoF Gamertag on your friends list so that other AGE Members can easily find you to request an invite; even if they are not on your direct friends list.
Tips for Players
1) You will be required to abide by the AGE Site Rules (see Section 12).
2)
Good sportsmanship is required. Please treat players the way you would
want to be treated. While AGE Game Nights can sometimes be skillful,
they do not need to be over competitive. No taunting or name calling
will be allowed.
3) Help fill up Game Night hosted rooms (names on
the AGE host list) before joining a non-Game Night hosted room (names
not on Host list).
4) Make sure to ask the host if you can invite a friend in the room before doing so.
5) If a hosts online status says "Away", this means his/her room is full.
6)
Please only send text messages to hosts. For example, if you want an
invite, send a text message of "Invite?". Text messages are much easier
for host to deal with than voice messages.
7) Many hosts friends lists are full, so the best way to get in their room is by sending a text message such as, "I see you are a host this week for Call of Duty starting at 9pm EST; please send me a game invite once you set it up." The host can view you profile from the message and send you a game invite.
8) If the Game Night you are looking to join has a Friends of Friends list join it so hosts can easily find you to invite.
