I know we're a little ways away from the release, but i was wondering if anyone would be interested in setting up a friendly 4 vs 4 league. And or some free for all tournaments.

I used to do this with a bunch of friends in some PC fps'.

Basicly, you'd pick teams of 4 (i think the min to start a team match is 8 so..), and they'd always be the same, and you'd just setup a playoff system (or if we wanna get really involved a league with a season and playoffs). It could just be done in private matches so it wouldn't effect your ranks or anything. Typically we let the two teams playing scheadule their own matches, and each team basicly had 1 match a week. I just figured it could be something fun to do after the full game is out (and private parties are possible). We'd probably give it a bit of time after it came out to get everyone aclimated...but it might take a little bit of time to get setup so i figured might as well get a jump on the planning early if people are interested.

You could also do the same sorta thing on a individual level with a Free-for-all tournament.

Heck if its succesfull enough we could get all crazy with it and have multiple seasons/tournys, get captains, and hold drafts... But one step at a time i suppose :)

With all the interest around here in CoD4 I think it's a very safe bet that there will be a tourney and/or league. And, you nailed it, it'll take a little time for everyone to get acclimated to the game before one gets off the ground. You can check out what was done with Gears and R6:Vegas for likely models.

Oh thats awsome. I didn't even know about those. I didn't check the rainbow 6 one out yet, but it seems like the GOW one was highly successfull.

The only thing i didn't catch was did you guys end up choosing the teams at random? or pick your own guys?

I think for Vegas the polled the people and tried to balance the teams, I think the same was done for BOW

Tourney - yes. League - can be tough for me to make required nights, especially with time gaps between folks.

I assume we'll have at least a couple of one-night tourneys in this game but I know I'd love to see a league for this game as well. RB6 league was some of my favorite gaming.

Might be fun to allow people to sign up as teams for something at some point too...

I prefer game nights, after playing for the first time in the BOW tournament I realized that those competitive tournaments can ruin the fun somehow, when half of the team plays for fun and the other half to win it is difficult to enjoy it to the max, I play only for fun and I do not care about the badge you can get for your AGE user, I have enought challenges at work and home to care about videogame tournaments... game night is more relaxed and provides exactly what I want and is worth it to get up at 3:00 am (in my case)... I guess tourneys are fun if you play with people you know and all have the same player profile: play just for fun

Well fortunately it seems like this game will be popular enought to support a couple different formats...one more competitive and one more casual. But i guess we'll know for sure sometime in november :)
