Has anyone ever tried one of these?

A friend of mine is being sent to work from home would like to run the PC they give him through his TV so he can sit on the couch. :smt002 Can't say I blame him there. He's worried that the site says this can't display above 640x480 res. It does say it supports up to 1024x768 at least. I read it to mean that it can display the higher res but it will be fuzzy. Either way he doesn't want to spend 50 bucks on it unless he knows it will work.

Never used that product, but I use the s-video out on my desktop and laptop all the time. Works perfectly, but remember a non-HDTV only has a native resolution of 480x640 so it's not going to be as crisp as his monitor.

For best results tell him to talk his company into buying him an HDTV that has a VGA/RGB input. :smt003

bottom line is you will never get a decent resolution on a reg tv so unless he just wants to watch video or play a simple game it isn't worth while. ur icons and type will be all boxy and fuzzy .HTH

in order to have a workable picture on a SD tv you need to take the
resolution down to 640x480 then play with the font sizes ... by the
time you have the fonts big enough to read you have so little real
estate that it's really an excerise in futility. Before i got a tivo i
used a pc as a dvr and had it hooked up to a tv (also did some
emulation on it) It was nowhere near clear enough to do any kind of
real work on though.
