Burnout 3 is a fun game no doubt about that, and has the same
annoyances that PGR2 has/had, which is that you have to unlock cars and
tracks offline to be able to use them online. That kinda blows, but at
least you can run on tracks the host has unlocked, so you won't get
bumped if they run a track you don't have yet. But, do yourself a favor
and play the offline races and unlock the cars you'll need to compete
with online.

When playing on or offline, when you are playing road rage, choose an
'Assasin' type car in the car class you are running in. It has the
weight you need to survive the race and the weight you need to pummle
N00baxx with, and they are as fast as all the other cars in the class
(except for the Dominator?)

While playing offline, you pretty much have to get Gold medals in
everything if you want to unlock all the cars ion the game. Some races
won't open up unless you have all golds in this or that series. So, to
save some time, if you are getting pwned halfway into a race, I would
just start it over (the button sequence for that is -> start, down,
a, up, a).

Offline, after a Takedown (you taking down someone else), you are given
a grace period when you regain control where you will be steered clear
by the computer, even when you have control, it's a little weird, but
if you can plan a takedown leading into an especially crazy part of the
track, it can help you.

In races against the computer, be sure to go take out the lead car ASAP
because he'll just race while the others will concentrate on taking you
out. Drive clean early to move ahead, then start punishing the computer
whenever you have the chance. You gain more boost that way, and will
stay near the front which should be all you need to win. Also, rear
ending cars while boosted tends to take them out pretty easily and
doesn't slow you down very much at all.

The general public seems to find it fun to start a session with no car
limits, and get everyone set up with muscle cars are, and then at the
last second change over to a coupe or something and then crush you.
Fuck the GP and long live AGE.

AFAICT, after 150 takedowns, you don't unlock any more cars that way,
and the same is true after 200,000 burnout points. I'm up in the
52,000,000 crash points area, and there's another unlock at 70,000,000.

Online, take out Vjornaxx ASAP because he'll do the same as that first
computer car and just race away from you as you fight thru Soul, Empty,
hoggle, flatline, and hazard. Kill the n00baxx! heheehehe....:smt003

When starting an online game with a password, please always use "AGE1"
as the password (and passwords are case sensitive I think).

For those who care about rank, playing Single Race and Road Rage will help you gain rank faster than Party Crash.

Yeah, I've gone through and unlocked 60 of 67 cars. All the way up to Sport class, you should likely use "Dominator" for speed or "Assassin" for stability in races. I normally go for the Dominator. At the superclass, the cars all have about the same speed but different weights with the exception of the dominator which has the top speed and the lightest weight. If you're racing with a Super online, use the heaviest one since the difference in speed between a dominator vs everything else is not really a factor (205mph vs 200mph) and you don't want to get tossed around liken00bnaxx. lolz. *ahem* Also.. DO NOT use a formula racer online. It has the same top speed as a Dominator Super, butit crashes when bugs hit its windshield and bleeds speed whenever you hit the guardrails (if you don't crash by hitting them).

Damn, I thought I was doing well with 47 cars unlocked. :-s

Yeah well the game is addictive and I have a problem with addiction. When I turned off my xbox from playing Burnout 3 all Saturday, the sun was rising.

As empty noted in a diff thread that I can't find, the 'getting dropped bug' seems to be avoidable. An XMG threads tell the story (http://www.xboxmaturegamers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4509).
Also worth noting, again previously mentioned by Empty, is that
this game is NOt Live aware, so when you are offline unlocking cars, no
one else can know that you are playing, so we have to coordinate a
little better when playing this game (go online a lot and check you FL
for names with headphones next to them, use empty rooms, use the same
password for all AGe games -> "AGE1" (no quotes, case sensitive).

So far, imho, EA is getting a D+ grade for their Live enabled efforts, and there's a conspiracy theory (http://xboxmaturegamers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=69197#69197) to go with that, and other complaints (http://www.penny-arcade.com/news.php3?date=2004-09-13).

/me tips hat to the XMG folks and Empty too for the helpful info.

I hate Live games that dont have Live aware. It can't be that fucking
hard to enable Live aware with a game that supports Live. I have Nascar
2005 and while I like the game I'm not sure I will purchase another EA
Live game. I'm really thinking about trading a few games for Burnout 3
but I'm hesitant due to EA & Live.

Sorry for off topic rant.
