I played the demo on this last month's Xbox Mag disk. Although it was short and a little lame, I'm expecting the full-up game to be pretty good. If it lives up to Live expectations, it will be VERY good. Time will tell.

A definite maybe. If I get board between DOA:U, Doom 3 (if it comes out this month), and Halo2/Tron 2.0 I just might.

I'm a big no on it. I played the demo and didn't find anything I liked about it. I know it's just a demo, but....meh. I'd heard multiplayer battles are limited to 2 players now, too....is that true?

I finally played some of the Demo last night. I dig it! It will take a little getting used to in terms of knowing objectives and issuing orders to troops.. But that not withstanding, I loved the feel, settingand look and the semi-mindlessmelee combat!!! I tried "Samurai Warriors" for a very short time and this game does what it tried to do... so much better.

Also, at the end of the demo, itstates that this willhave 1vs1, 2vs2and "free for all" modemultiplayer on Xbox Live. Perhaps they did not cut it back from up to 4 players online afterall? :-s

I could especially dig having 4 different armies all clashing in this thing on Live!

For those thinking they won't get it, maybe this will convince you.

Nice pics. ^^ I want to get it but can't afford it right now, and don't have time to play it either. My son played it on the display thing at Target and it looked pretty good.

That question is answered in the IGN review (http://xbox.ign.com/articles/556/556132p3.html)...

The Xbox Live portion of KUF
is separate from the campaign and allows for head-to-head winner takes
all play. The cool thing about online, which runs just as smoothly as
the single-player, is that it offers its own evolution. All maps and
all four heroes are available from the start, but your troops are just
basic infantry. Only by winning matches online can you earn experience
to upgrade your troops. You have no officers to aid you, just your hero
and up to four combat troops.

Matches are very simple. You start on one end of the map, your opponent
on the opposite side and you move to find one another. As you improve
your character, you can set traps and find ways to flank your enemy,
but in the beginning, it's really just a straight run at one another.
Voice can be heard at any time, no need for proximity, so you can taunt
your foe as often as you like.

<div id="intelliTxt"><div class="editorial">

Originally, KUF was to feature four-player matches, but
that had to go at the last minute. However, no one took this out of the
interface, so when you create a match, every map will show a player
limit (always two, of course) and you can choose to join one of four
teams, even though there can only be two players. That's unfortunate,
because it's just a reminder of what could have been, as four-player
battles would have absolutely rocked. As is, the online component will
satisfy those who fall in love with KUF, but probably won't keep the interest of those who are only mildly into the RTS fighter.

I guess it's a no for me. With everything else coming out and no 4 player mode, nah. It would have been fun too.

Thanks for the clarification Circ. Guess they made the demo before deciding to reduce to head-to-head. No biggie, from the start I had envisioned this style of game as a head-to-head style online game. Hearing later that it would support up to 4 online was icing, but the cake is still sweet. :smt002

It'll be like Hockey online only in a slightly different setting. :smt003

I just happen to particularlydig games with mythical environments and critters (and I'll never complain about sexy, polygonal vampire and elven chicks.. lol).

EDIT: At least it wasn't reduced to co-op online only. Now that I might not have cared for too much, but still would've considered the game as a purchase since I just like stuff like that.. lol.

I played the XBM demo and it didn't do much for me. I loved the back story that you could read...had a very epic feel to it but then the actual game started and it was all shattered :smt012 I think it was the heavy metal rifts that broke the illusion for me. Still, if it has Xbox Live support it might be a cool multiplayer game.

I'll be checking it out, even if it's only for them chix:

Maybe it's best to wait for it to become available 2nd-hand. It's probable that lots of people will be disappointed with it...

Danno: heavy metal in medieval settings can break a lot of atmosphere. I got sick of it when I was playing Dynasty Warriors years ago. I can appreciate metal, but I'd rather have it with Burnout 3 and the like.

:smt028 Picked this one up today. Played the demo and loved it, a good mix of strategy and action make it worth the forty bucks I spent on it. Plus it looks as though I'll be able to play through the game 4 times (4 seperate factions of 2 human &amp; 2 dark legion). Online is another story as already those who got the game early have armies that are to powerful for me to face. If anyone wants to take online for a spin look me up.

It sure has some depth to it indeed! Having tried it online, I am glad it is head-to-head 2 players only. That offers enough chaos and strategy to consider as it is. You have to build up your army for sure though like zemo said.. I can't imagine taking on anyone with a built up army for a good while to come. It has some depth and will take some time to build up an army online.

But even with two "fundamental" beginner armies just doing some melee battles online was fun! But I really want to get troops of archers, calvary, catapaults and on and on. With all the different games I already tinker with, this will take me a while to build up a good army, but I like the game more than well enough to keep it around for the duration!

The heavy metal music ultimately begins to fit the feel they give this game ... oddly enough it really does.. lol. But it is kewl.. it is a "thinking man's" game even though there is plenty of hack-n-slash, there is a great amount of depth on the strategy end to keep this game fresh for a good while. 4 players? meh... head-to-head is exactly where it's at with a game of this nature (much like chess, only faster paced and bloodier).

Online, once a battle begins, this puppy ran as smooth as silk and never even flinched during the more chaotic melee battles with dozens of characters and activities on screen at once. With 2 players alone, the action on screen should be enough to bog it down and cause lag, but it doesn't and I think this explains why they had to drop 4 players. I think they found it too ambitious to go with 4 players and expect a smooth online ride as well. I am happy they opted to give us a smooth online experience, because if that was their reasoning, it worked.

These comments are based only on having completed 2 offline missions and fighting several online rounds with Soul Embrace. Many folks here at AGE are (and understandably) more interested in games that offer more players to be online in the game, but it is not like we don't have plenty of those. This game is fresh and unique, muich like Full Spectrum Warrior was.. but this game does do head-to-head rather than co-op... lending to it an even greater online appeal with an offline campaign to keep you busy a very long time.
