Well today I went to the EBX in the mall where I had placed my preoder for halo 2. I asked about the midnight release of the game and the guy said that they cant because of some law inmy county called "The Blue Law" which restricts stores from being open passed 12am. How rediculous is that? And on top of it all, I'm not even garunteed a copy the 9th eventhough I preorded about 6 months ago.

That sucks bad. I pre-ordered my copy just recently so I'm worried about getting it on the release date as well. The game's already sold over 1 million pre-orders so Bungie should be aware of the incredible demand for the game and thus will ship off a buttload of copies to each store. I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyways.

What county are you in? And why are you not guaranteed a copy of halo 2 since you are preordered?

Ya, uhm...isn't that theONLY point of pre-ordering? To guarantee you'll get a copy the day it comes out? How can they NOT make sure they will have enough? They tell Bungie how many pre-orders they have...Bungie sends them that many copies.
Did you talk to the actual store manager? Cause that sounds shady. And shitty.

I would raise hell if I didn't get my copy! You ordered 6 months
ago and some little shit preordered yesterday and gets in line before
you and gets your copy cause he was at the store
earlier...bullshit! I would demand my copy or call and write the
district manager...RAISE FUCKING HELL!

I live in Bergen County, NJ. The store I preordered it from was EBX, and I believe it's the same as EBgames. I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet, maybe head up to NY, the border is only about 10 mins away and pre-order it there. My only worry is that I wont get the game at midnight. At first I didnt really care if I got it at midnight, but when I heard pretty much every store was doing the midnight release I got pumped. How the fuck can you not have enough for the people who preordered? IfI dont get my Halo you are going to be hearing on the news about a guy who killed 47 people at a video game store because he didnt get halo. Sorry just venting.

Dang, that sucks. I was in the Gamestop by my office talking about Halo 2 preorders, and I pre ordered mine at the one that is like a gazillion miles away from my house, and if I were to pre-order another one, at the gamestop by my office, then I wouldn't get it on the release day. This was a couple of weeks ago too, so I hope all the folks that just did their pre-orders will get their copies on time! But for now, I will have to drive to the one all the way across Memphis and stand in line with a bunch of kids to get my copy! I really dont want to deal with the whole picking it up at midnight thing, but I fear that if I dont go that night, then I might not get my copy until the next shipment. I would much rather just go there first thing in the morning on Nov. 9th and get my copy, instead of standing in some line. Oh well.

Blue Laws suck. I used to live in Arkansas & the blue laws led to all sorts of stupid things. You could only buy gas & groceries (but no alcocol) on Sundays. If the cashier was less than 21 years old, they would have to call over someone older than 21 to ring in the beer or wine.
Good luck getting the game! I would recommend asking to talk to the manager & if he can't guarantee that you'll get your copy, ask for number of the regional person. It is ridiculous that they would take a pre-order & then not have it there for you.

But the manager stated it was a 1st come 1st serve no matter when you placed your preorder. I am not very happy about this since I will not be able to attend the midnight party. They are also not able to guarantee the number of copies they get in will match there pre-orders>

That really pisses me off. How can you take a pre-order from someone and not garuntee them a copy. I dont care at this point I'm ready to kick some ass and take some names. I just want Halo 2. I'm not asking to kiss the pope.

Supply and demand. One of the reasons I never bother with pre-ordering.
I am curious though - what does it say on your receipt about any sort of guarantee?
