swbf takes place within a culture that has faster-than-light spacetravel, sentient machines, and the ability to walk around in a giant worm's innards in the vacuum of space with just an airline oxygen mask on your face--why in the hell don't they have extended magazines on their sniper rifles?

I feel your pain. I love that class, but find myself playing just a regular trooper as I dont like having to reload after a couple of shots. Hell, the sniper rifles on MOHAA hold more shots. When you get on a server with just a slight bit of lag, sniping in BF can be almost impossible.

just another in a long line of completely illogical video game developer trains of thought--right up there with "why can a highly-trained, professional counter-terrorist operative with state-of-the-art weapons and equipment not be able to jump"

it makes you think that maybe if you were a terrorist, you'd just step over a hedge and run away

It's because their civilization has been spending all their efforts on hyperspeed and robots and giant-worm-walking-around-inside-of technology that there just hasn't been time for sniper rifles.

It should also be noted that today's sniper-rifles hold only a fraction of ammuntion as assualt rifles. Guns aren't my strongest subject so if I'm wrong then feel free to point out my error, but I'm guessing the why sniper rifles hold less ammo is so that the rifle can be layed on the ground while lying prone.

I think it's just a game balance issue. If the sniper class held more rounds, it would give him more of an edge.

but these are space guns we're dealing with on swbf--i've seen all of the star wars movies about 50 times and i never saw anybody changing magazines or standing in front of a supply droid yelling at it to hurry up

the emperor could have smoked the rebellion in a week if he had gotten some 25-shot sniper rifles for his troopers (and if he would've given them some spray-paint to camo up those white outfits when they fight on forest planets)

All true, but this is the mechanics of the game...this is what makes it fun. :smt003

This is the Empire we're talking about here. From the AT-ATs to the Death Star the Empire has time and time again proven itself as having the worst military designers in the whole galaxy. Even standard Stormtrooper armor, while incredibly cool looking, is clunky and can't doesn't even protect against rocks thrown my Ewoks of all things.

Also I don't think there were sniper rifles in Star Wars. I think they were just added for the game, much like the Imperial tanks.

there were snipers in star wars, you just didn't see them because they were well-hidden--i think the tanks were in the shop

the immense frustration of lining up that last shot and your gun says "click" rrrrrrrrr

i know, i know--the x button changes magazines but i don't want to change mags--i want a 25 shot clip

Um, you guys do realize you're over-analyzing a video game that is based off a movie that was made in the hippie is to yuppie as disco is to new wave transistional period?

Okay, off my soapbox and into the nerd circle: George definitely didn't make the movie with the Xbox game in mind, so obviously certain liberties were taken to use favorites in the game and 'force' them into certain classes. I could be wrong, but I don't remember any of those guys with the blue vests and bicycle helmets firing rockets at the storm troopers as the came down the hall to get the Princess.

I love the way this game balances things. Sure, you could zoom in closer, but you've got to do the job in two shots less than that other sniper looking for you. As somebody who's always switching classes based on my team's needs, I can see how a sniper with 20 shots could just camp up all day and take out the entire forward progression with little effort. I love the trails to give an idea of where they are and the fact that I can count their rounds before make a run for it.

Maybe it's just because I'm of the belief of being disadvantaged if I know my enemy is being disadvantaged as well... as one of the best skills to have in a game like this is adaptation.

The issue I'm having is understanding the balance of the Clone Wars. I'm just not getting it. Too often I see it being completely one-sided, but I also don't play that era enough to fully understand it.

*Edit: Oh yeah, and one more thing... I always thought of the Empire as being influenced by the English style of warfare and expansion, so it totally makes sense that their arrogance would get in the way of common sense (i.e. bright white uniforms in a forest and bright red coats walking in a line, face-first into battle.

A jet trooper with any half decent rifle would be good, the blue light ball gun is effective but slow ot reload and hard to be accurate with. I love the jet trooper, I look good in green.

I've been a Star Wars fan for 20+ years and have neverconsidered even the thougth of a wookiee dong...until now that is.Thanks AGE, a new surprise every day :D lol

GREAT MOMENTS IN SLANG

the term "wookie"(fictional race of tall, sasquatch-like, creatures, fiercely loyal with an ironic knack for repairing mechanical/electronic devices-ironic, considering they live in huts on their home planet) in a few keystrokes becomes forever synonymous with "dick"

eg; "jesus! that wookie is seven feet tall--keep it away from the children"

"suck my wookie"

"don't talk to that guy--he's a wookie"
