Just wanted to share a good experience I had with Comcast Business Internet last night. I was playing COD4 when I started to lag badly, decided to reboot the 360 to see what's up. Rebooted.... can't connect to live. Checked my PC .. 80% packet loss. Rebooted the Cable modem, comes back up and won't retrain. Dicked with it for 30 minutes and then called CBI support.

They had a technician out with a new modem within an hour ... on a Sunday. ( Took him a while to do the replacement since he was not sure what was actually the problem at first )

The Buisness connection is a bit more expensive then the regular service, but you do get static IPs and guaranteed bandwidth, as well as quick service turnaround.

I was actually pleasantly surprised.. since I expected the "yeah.. we'll see you in 3 days thing" , but the tech said that worst case it's next day service for thes kinds of issues.

What tier do you have? For some reason I'm thinking you are blazing at the 50/10.

I'm at 16/2 guaranteed, but the Business side has no caps or max limits so speedtest.net reports just over 35/3 sustained ( But I've seen it over 40 from time to time ) The tech have said that the max is limited by signal quality ( Which is perfect at my house ).. I'll be upgraded to 50/5 when that tier becomes available this fall.

Well, that's good at least. [y]

Figured something might be with your connection when you didn't come back on after going to reboot.

How much does that cost monthly, if you don't mind my asking.

$60-200 month depending on tier and features. ( IE: static IP, web-hosting, etc ). I'm paying $95/month ( Highest Tier + 5 static ip addresses .. but since I run a business out of my house it's also a tax write off so easy to justify). It gets a bit cheaper if you bundle in a voice and/or cable package. One other thing they don't mention in the ads is that for the business class stuff they do not do ANY port filtering. So you can setup your own e-mail server, web server, etc.. and they will even do a reverse DNS setup for you if you ask.

So, they're telling you this fall for DOCSIS 3 in Colorado?

Well Denver Area anyways ... or so they claim. I'll believe it when I see it. Kind of like Qwest that was telling me they will be doing FIOS last year... still waiting.

Qwest is doing fiber, but it's just FTTN. It's set-up down here, but I had no interest due to low upload speeds.

We pretty much run parallel to Denver...Denver got the speed bump to 16/2 and so did we, etc, so I am guessing it will show up down here around that time, if they hit that date.

Look at the bright side, by the time DOCSIS 3 comes your way they will have the bugs worked out. I've had it for a while 22/5...and they are continually tweaking it. I and a bunch of others around the country have an issue with uploads.

But, I will say seeing 90Mbit powerboost downloads is amusing. And I get sustained 22Mbit/2.8MB per sec. off of giganews.
