this may be common knowledge, but i thought i'd share for those that may not know.
i used to get a lotta unreadable disk errors with vegas 1. well, it's been a while since i'd played the original and then 2 days ago i started gettin' the same error. i checked out the disk and it had small ringed scratches on it. i took the game back to gamestop to swap it out yesterday, and then i remembered the problem and solution i had with vegas 1:
i use a universal remote to macro shut down everything. for some reason, vegas shuts down very harshly and spins down in the tray causing little scratches. i figured out you HAVE TO exit the game into your dashboard before you shut down the xbox instead of trying to shut down in-game. if you do this, you can avoid the scratches and unreadable disk errors. it took me 2 swap outs of vegas 1 to figure this out and already 1 swapout of vegas 2 to remember. gamestop will give you a hard time if you try to swap out your disk after like 10 days, so if you have been shutting down this way and you have some scratches on the back of your disk, it's best to swap it out asap.
again, this may be common knowledge, and then again, maybe it's just my machine that does this kinda thing, but either way, if you've received this error, it's worth checkin' out before it gets too late.
