I thought I would start a thread to discuss all the Star Wars movies, given that the culmination of many of our pathetic existences is coming up with the release of Episode III on May 19. I ran across this article on MSNBC.com (http://msnbc.msn.com/id/7466911/), and it kind of inspired this thread.

Pay close attention to the very end of this article, I love the description of the author. Too funny. Overall, I agree with a lot of statements this critic makes, and I find some of the parallels he draws between Lucas in real life, compared to the evolution of the Star Wars saga and it's characters, to be pretty enlightening.

So, feel free to discuss what you think about the past movies, and what you hope to see in the end of the series (BUT PLEASE NO SPOILERS!!!). I'm not standing in line, but I'll probably take the day off to see it at midnight.

Wow, for once a critic who actually "gets" it. Right down to mentioning the stupid Christ metaphor that Lucas put in Phantom Menace. I still can't watch that movie.

My favorite quote from the whole article?
"You mean my father’s not a great man? You mean my father’s a dick?"

Great stuff. :smt005

Intresting article. Although the author has it wrong where he says that, with ROTS, the Star Wars saga has now become about Darth Vader....it has ALWAYS been about Darth Vader! The story of Star Wars is the rise, fall and redemption of Anakin.

And again, why is it that no-one seems to 'get' the midi-chlorians!? Everyone seems to get so hung-up on the thought that the Midis ARE the Force. News Flash: The midi-chlorians are not the Force! The Force is the Force! The midis only communicate the will of the Force to the beings that they reside in.

To me, the midis are much like the Holy Spirit in Christianity....living inside beings and communicating to them and teaching them of the presecence and the will of the Almighty (the Force).

Anyway, a good article...it's getting hard to wait out these last two weeks until the movie opens!
