Here's a quick first impression of an older game that I picked up on a whim a few weeks back:

Morrowind is the standard role playing game that most PC gamers have come to known. It's told from a first person perspective and is relatively real-time (both combat and magic are real time, but may be paused). Combat is relatively simple, although it does take a little bit of timing. My first impression of the world is that it's HUGE. It's a good half day's walk from the starting town to the next town you need to visit. A good map is helpful and thankfully the GotY edition has a fold out map that's fairly helpful. If you decide to take the local transportation, you'll find that you miss a lot of the stuff along the way.

I've been playing this game a LOT for the last two weeks and feel like I've barely scratched the surface. In fact at some points, I have felt a little overwhelmed. On the flipside, it's refreshing to have the kind of freedom of play that this game gives.
Once I finish this game (it's gonna be a while), I'll give a more in-depth post game review. As for now, though, I'm giving this game a rating of at least 9/10.

Comments and suggestions for gameplay are definitely welcome!

Yeah, I played this for PC and it is indeed an enourmous world. This game is geared for some of the more hardcore RPG fans and it has a mind boggling amount of content. There's a lot of freedom and a lot of exploration to do in Morrowind. I had some issues with the game, but don'tget me wrong here... this is an awesome game.

I really only had 2 issues with the game:I didn't really like some of the skill and leveling ideas. Not that they were bad, its just that they operated in a way that I just disagreed with. Your character can only be advanced as far as their mainclass can go. So if you make a fighter character with a race that gets fighter skill bonuses, you can't advance your other skills very far since there is not much space to advance your primary abilities. I mean, you'll be a good fighter, but not really good at much else. But because of that same system, you could make that same character's primary class a mage and get all your other skills very high and become very overpowered because there is a lot of room to improve your primary class, and thus you get a lot of points to play with.

The other issue I had is that fistswere the way to go and here's why: Its a lot easier to kill your enemy when he's unconcious. It's a lot easier to knock your enemy out than to kill him. It's a lot easier to knock out an enemy with your fists than a weapon, and your unarmed attack gets better the more you use it.I don't care what kind of character you are... fists were the way to go. You beat your enemy unconcious, then stab him while he's down.

Now, let me say this again: this game is really fun and really well made. The two issues I have don't really take away from the fact that this game kicks a lot of ass. Your average player will not likely notice the issuesI mentioned because it takes a lot of time to really see them come into play. So yeah, this game pwns.

Morrowind is the longest videogame I have ever seen. I probably put in close to 75 hours with this game on the PC, and I don't imagine I came anywhere near finishing it (I am a very thorough and methodical RPG gamer). I think after a while the size of this game becomes a real pain in the ass. On the whole, though, this is a fantastic game.

I've been playing this game since the first one came out for xbox a couple of years ago. The map is huge but once you get some levels under your belt and build up your speed and endurance it starts to get a lot smaller. I'm towards the end of the main quest and lead the fighter, mages and a couple of other guilds, own my own castle and am for the most part invincible. No one last more than a couple of hits from me and I never need to heal myself cuz of my amulets that have a constant heal effect. My only grip is that I have all these super expensive items and no one to sell them to. Yes I know about the crab and creeper but I accidently killed the crab and the creeper takes too much time trading 5000 at a time. My castle is completley full of armor and weapons. Each room has stacks and stacks of anything you'd ever need.

I need to start playing this again and finish it up cuz I still have the two other expansions to start. I think overall I have over 200 hours in the game but I really probably spent the first 100 hours just exploring and not following any quests. This game is the best value of any game out for xbox and if you like non-linear RPG's then this is the one and only.

Yup, I've put probably about 70 hours into this game and still didn't make it more than 1/3 of the way through before losing interest. It really is a good game, but it's just too damn big! I really enjoyed that at first, but got tired of it before I was close to beating it.

Yeah, I've gotten sick of it and put it away. Every now and then I'll get it out and play again. I bet I'll still be messing around with it in 2 more years and still not be done with all the quests.
